The Organization: West Central Initiative (WCI) serves as a regional community foundation that unites ideas and resources to help people and communities create a better tomorrow within the economically diverse and dramatically changing nine-county region in west central Minnesota. WCI helps strengthen communities through its leadership, early childhood and workforce development programs, and by providing planning assistance. It offers financing for business start-ups and expansion. And it encourages regional philanthropy through its component and endowment funds.

The Region: The 8,615-square mile nine-county region includes the counties of Becker, Clay, Douglas, Grant, Otter Tail, Pope, Stevens, Traverse and Wilkin. WCI is based in Fergus Falls, which is an attractive rural community of 13,000, located near I-94 on the divide between the great prairie and the Minnesota lakes region. There are 82 incorporated municipalities in the region with one-third of its 225,000 residents residing in its five largest cities: Moorhead (39,091), Fergus Falls (13,295), Alexandria (13,045), Detroit Lakes (8,851) and Morris (5,382).

The Role: Reporting to the Board of Directors, the President is responsible for leading, directing and managing the organization in a manner consistent with the mission and values of WCI and policies established by the Board. Major responsibilities include: Organizational Leadership, Oversight of Management and Operations, Governance (Board and Committee Operations); Regional Engagement; Research; and Philanthropy. Reporting to the President is a talented, professional, and hardworking 14-person staff.

It is a nonprofit organization specializing in the development of parenting intervention curricula, professional development for practitioners, and program consultation. It is a unique, entrepreneurial, fast-paced, revenue-generated organization utilizing a shared leadership model. GKI develops leading edge, evidence-based Parenting, Attachment, Child Development, and Family Enhancement curricula and the associated certification seminars and trainings for practitioners.

The Mission: GKI’s mission is to partner with programs to reduce family stress and grow essential parenting and life skills, thereby empowering parents to provide their children with a safe, loving home and the inner strengths to reach their highest developmental potential. The Role: GKI seeks an Executive Director (ED) to lead this social entrepreneurial business and drive its mission. As a member of the Managing Directors Group, the ED provides strategic direction and leadership for the organization, develops and builds relationships with program partners, conducts outreach to current and prospective project partners and serves as the primary representative for promotion of its industry leading programs and curricula. Responsible for GKI’s financial and operational management, business negotiations, marketing, fiscal integrity, intellectual property oversite, and staff morale, the ED leads strategic alliance-building and promotion efforts to build and secure a sustained organizational financial base. Strong internal and external collaboration with staff, Board, clients and project partners is essential to develop and implement programs aligned with the organization’s vision and strategic plan. On behalf of our client, Northwestern Health Sciences University, CohenTaylor Executive Search Services is conducting a retained search for their Vice President of Marketing.

The Organization:  Northwestern Health Sciences University (NWHSU) is a progressive institution educating the next generation of health care professionals. Located in Bloomington, MN, a suburb of the thriving Minneapolis/St. Paul metropolitan area, the institution has been a fixture in the market since 1941.

The Mission: NWHSU prepares the next generation of health care professionals to deliver and advance health care.

The Role: NWHSU seeks a Vice President of Marketing (VPM), who will provide strategic and operational leadership in the areas of strategic marketing and communications. The VPM leads the marketing function across the University: Clinics and Patient Services across multiple sites, University Academic Programs across multiple degree programs, Continuing Education across disciplines and support for revenue generation in research and fund development. This position will set the vision and provide strategic leadership in all areas of marketing. The successful candidate will have direct responsibility for developing the marketing activities to support inquiry generation for enrollment, growth in patients and use of patient services in clinics, marketing of academic programs, and awareness and revenue growth for Centers of Innovation. This position is a working leader, who will serve as member of the senior leadership team and will have responsibility for building a team around these accountabilities.
