On behalf of our client, Hennepin Theatre Trust, CohenTaylor Executive Search Services is conducting a retained executive search for its Director of Development.

May 17, 2021

Hennepin Theatre Trust drives cultural and economic vitality in Minnesota through leadership of the dynamic Hennepin Theatre District in downtown Minneapolis and educational programming that reaches every area of the state. Its historic theatres — Orpheum, State and Pantages — light up Hennepin Avenue with top-tier entertainment, including the best of Broadway, while The Hennepin — a beautifully renovated building at 900 Hennepin Avenue — expands the Trust’s capacity for diverse performances and events. The organization’s transformation of the places and spaces outside the theatres create a vibrant, welcoming place for all. Annually, the Trust serves thousands of high school students statewide and brings hundreds of thousands of people to the Theatre District to experience art on the street and stage.

In partnership with the President/CEO, fundraising team, and board of directors, the Director of Development will have overall responsibility for developing, implementing, and managing Hennepin Theatre Trust’s comprehensive fundraising efforts, including major giving, annual campaigns, sponsorships, grants, and donor cultivation. The Director will be responsible for identifying and operationalizing annual strategies to meet or exceed contributed revenue goals and will be tasked with establishing a strategic investment fund for the Trust.

As a builder and collaborator, this Director will strengthen the Trust’s culture of philanthropy and help each department understand its role in fundraising. The Director will also work across departments to help craft key messages and compelling stories that show the Trust’s value, to influence and evaluate programming, and to identify and pursue funding opportunities.

The ideal candidate will effectively articulate to prospective donors Hennepin Theatre Trust’s value as an arts organization and leading driver of business and cultural impact in Minneapolis and across the State of Minnesota.
