CohenTaylor partnered with Haven Housing in welcoming Monica Nilsson as their new Executive Director.
Monica is the recipient of the two statewide awards of the Minnesota Coalition for the Homeless: the Distinguished Service Award and the Outstanding Organizing Award. Coming from a long, notable career helping those homeless in Minnesota, this year, she developed the largest project that resulted from Governor Walz’s Minnesota Winter Homeless Initiative, a partnership supported by the Richard M. Schulze Family Foundation to ensure that unsheltered individuals had safe respite overnight. In recent months, as the COVID-19 crisis hit, Monica developed and led two 40 bed shelters in northeast Minneapolis.
“It is clear that the mission of Haven Housing is her passion and life’s work,” said Maggee Nelson, CohenTaylor Executive Recruiter. “With over 25 years of experience around issues of housing, homelessness, and poverty across the nonprofit and public sector, Monica is well-equipped to lead the organization into the future. Her expertise in advocacy and outreach and her innate ability to serve as a convener, collaborator, and partnership builder will no doubt amplify Haven Housing’s incredible mission and impact.”
